The Twitterverse raised more than RM50,000 in just three hours through its #TolongBantuMahasiswa fundraiser, aimed at helping university students stranded at their campuses.

Muda founder, YB Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman said in a statement that the fundraiser was held to raise money for university students affected by the decision to postpone face-to-face registration, as reported by the New Straits Times.
On Friday (2 October), the Higher Education Ministry had called for all institutes of higher learning to postpone physical registration of new and returning students at their campuses for the October intake, which led to many students being stranded and in need of urgent help.

He said: “We targeted RM50,000 but within three hours, #TolongBantuMahasiswa has managed to collect RM51,145.92. We would like to express our thanks to all Malaysians”.
The decision was made as the Ministry took into account the safety and health of students, parents, and the community as the number of new COVID-19 cases in the country continues to spike in recent days.
