These Kitties And Doggos At SPCA Seberang Perai Need Your Help!

Oh no, our hearts are broken!

Due to the Movement Control Order (MCO), 2,500 rescued animals at the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) in Seberang Perai, Penang is currently struggling to keep afloat!

According to The Star, chairman of SPCA Seberang Perai, Tan Kah Chuah said that since the MCO was implemented, the adoption of animals and donations have stopped despite the centre’s heavy monthly expenses of RM40,000.

“We look over 2,000 dogs and 500 cats and have to pay the salaries of our four workers who live at the premises.”

“We rely heavily on public donations and fundraising events to meet our expenses,” she added.

People have stopped coming to the shelter to adopt animals and donate food. Adoption, in this case, helps to run the society as adopters usually donate a small amount.

So currently, they are using the RM160,000 funds that they have raised during a dinner in September of last year. “With food supply and funds running low now, we hope kind donors can come forward to contribute. After 15 years in operation, we might close down if the situation does not improve,” she said.

These animals were rescued from being put down while others were victims of abuse and neglect. Some were even abandoned by their owners.

This is so heartbreaking! Please donate if you can. These animals, too, deserve love and compassion during this time.
