The Malaysia-Singapore VTL Is Back In Full Swing

Good news for those who need to travel between Malaysia and Singapore.

The Vaccinated Travel Lane between the two countries is now back in full swing.

The Transport Ministry says the full quota of bus and plane tickets under the VTL can be sold effective immediately.

This is after capacity had been cut by 50 percent in December, to help stem the spread of the Omicron variant.

There is also potentially more good news on the horizon.

The Ministry says talks are underway to expand the Malaysia-Singapore VTL to cover Penang and Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

This, however, will depend on how soon authorities can get the necessary facilities in place.

What’s more, authorities in Singapore have revealed that there are negotiations to expand the VTL to cover private vehicles as well, which means you could soon be able to drive your own car across the causeway once again.

This is just one step towards slowly (but surely) reopening our borders.

In addition to the VTL with Singapore, Malaysia has also agreed in principle to establish a vaccinated travel lane with Brunei, while we’re also looking at similar arrangements with Indonesia and Thailand.
