It has been an emotional roller-coaster for all Malaysians witnessing the unfolding of Malaysia’s political turmoil these past few weeks, but this heart-warming video might just make it all a little bit better.
“Thank you everyone”, the caption says on a video posted by Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad’s official Instagram soon after Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin was sworn as the eighth Prime Minister of Malaysia.
In the video, Tun Dr. Mahathir’s wife, Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, was seen embracing a rather shy Tun Dr. Mahathir as soon as he was done with a press conference at his office at Yayasan Al-Bukhary.
“Don’t be shy, shy” Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah said as Tun Dr. Mahathir playfully tried to dismiss his wife’s loving embrace.
“Sudahlah”, Tun Dr. Mahathir said as he continued hugging his wife upon the request of many spectators of the touching moment.
The video has garnered more than 1 million views and has been shared by many across social media.
Having been Malaysia’s fourth prime minister from 1981 to 2003 and again as the seventh after leading Pakatan Harapan to victory in the 14th General Election back in 2018, many thanked Tun Dr. Mahathir for his contributions as Malaysia’s longest-serving Prime Minister.
Many also prayed for his health and thought that it is finally time for Tun Dr. Mahathir to rest and spend more time with his family.
