According to The Borneo Post, chief enforcement officer of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) Sarikei branch, Mohamad Zawawi said that his team went to the eatery to investigate the matter after it went viral online.
“At the eatery, the seller admitted to overcharging their customers with the exorbitant price.
“The seller also did not display the price tag of the food they’re serving at the premises, which in this case, constitutes an infringement under the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering (Price Marking for Goods and Charges for Services) Order 2020,” he said.

Zawawi advised traders to be honest in their business practices, such as displaying price tags on items for sale so that customers can make an informed decision before purchasing them.
The woman, who recounted the incident on Facebook said that the cafe owner told her that a kilogramme of ikan patin costs roughly RM190.

She claimed, however, that she was to blame because she had not asked about the price of the noodle soup before ordering it.
