The iconic yellow bird appeared on CNN’s town hall “The ABC’s of COVID Vaccines” with journalist Erica Hill.
His grandmother, Granny Bird, revealed that Big Bird would be receiving the vaccine.
As Big Bird is generally identified as being about 6 years old, he is eligible to get the COVID-19 vaccine as the US Federal health officials recently granted emergency use authorization to Pfizer’s coronavirus vaccine for children aged between 5-11 years old.
That night, Big Bird tweeted: “I got the COVID-19 vaccine today! My wing is feeling a little sore, but it'll give my body an extra protective boost that keeps me and others healthy.
“Ms. Erica Hill even said I’ve been getting vaccines since I was a little bird. I had no idea!” he said.
Although Big Bird receives a lot of negative comments from strangers on Twitter, many also supported Big Bird’s decision, including the President of the United States, Joe Biden.
Such a brave thing to do, Big Bird! Well done on getting yourself vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus.
Guys, please get yourself vaccinated if you haven’t! It’s the only way we could fight this deadly virus together.
