These days, all kinds of videos seem to be going viral – from harmless, funny videos to impactful, life-changing viral challenges. Once in a while, however, you get videos that simply go viral for all the wrong reasons.

In a video that has since gone viral with over 1.2 million views, a young man is seen gleefully vandalizing several pre-packaged food items in a FamilyMart outlet in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan.

Netizens were quick to criticise both his behaviour and his attitude as many were outraged by his unbecoming actions.

Since then, the man posted a second video explaining that he had paid for the items he damaged and brushed off the criticisms as netizens hating without properly understanding the situation. The videographer even added that they did it just for fun as they wouldn’t dare vandalize blatantly because of the CCTVs in the store.

However, people remain unsatisfied with the explanation due to his insincere and arrogant attitude. Furthermore, it was discovered that the man didn’t actually pay for the damaged items.

The young man then posted an apology video on Instagram, citing that he will be responsible for the damage he had incurred.

According to Malay Mail, Nilai police chief Superintendent Mohd Nor Marzukee Besar has confirmed that the outlet manager has filed a police report of the incident and they are currently investigating the case under Section 427 of the Penal code for mischief. If found guilty, the culprits could face punishment of jail time between one to five years, a fine, or both.

Honestly, 5 minutes of Instagram fame isn’t worth 5 years of jail time.
There are always consequences to every action, so let’s keep it civilized!
