A motorcyclist suffered injuries after his neck got caught on a long piece of kite string that stretched across the road, while he was riding on the North-South Highway (PLUS) near the Sungai Dua Plaza Toll.

According to Berita Harian, Seberang Perai Utara District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Noorzainy Mohd Noor said that the 24-year-old motorcyclist, who is a police officer, was heading to the Seberang Perai Utara District Police Headquarters (IPD) Bertam from Bukit Mertajam Hospital.
Noorzainy added that the police officer was riding on his motorcycle at around 4:30 pm on the PLUS highway when he felt his neck getting stuck on something that was stretched across the highway, causing injuries on his neck.
Police have denied claims that there were any elements of sabotage as they found out that it was a kite string believed to have been blown away by the wind before it snapped and fell on the highway.
He further said that the rope was left scattered on the ground at the shoulder of the road and was not tied to any object.

In the 15-second video shared by Info Roadblock JPJ/POLIS on their Facebook page, the injured police officer and others who stopped to help him, tried to remove the string that was on the highway.
Noorzainy also informed the public to not make any speculations that could cause panic.
