Recently, a video of a man violently throwing a cat on the floor went viral on WhatsApp and social media, causing a stir among Malaysians.

The 55-second video showed a man picking up a cat that had climbed on his car windshield, before hurling the poor animal to the ground violently. The incident occured at a parking lot in front of a row of shophouses on Jalan Rejang, Setapak, as reported by the Star.
The police have since questioned a man for animal abuse, after he was caught on security camera.

Wangsa Maju OCPD Supt Rajab Ahad Ismail said: “A 36-year-old man surrendered himself at the Setapak police station at around 11.30 am on Tuesday (22 September). The suspect does not have any prior criminal record and is now having his statement recorded by the investigating officer.”
The motive for the man’s actions have yet to be determined, he added.
If found guilty, the man could face a RM50,000 fine or one year’s jail or both.
