Scammers are very good at what they do, and they can be very good at convincing you that they are who they say they are.
Twitter user, Dina recently shared how a scammer pretended to be her father on Telegram and tried to trick her into sending “him” some money.

In her tweets, Dina shared that the scammer begged her to lend him RM500, and promised to send her back the money the next day. However, Dina was being very careful and noticed that her “father” used a different pronoun which is “saya.”
Dina immediately could tell that the person was a fake because her father has never addressed himself in that manner.
She then replied to the message: “I’m sorry, Dad, but I can’t give you the money now,” and added that her mobile banking app is installed in another phone and that she will be back home on Tuesday.
The scammer then persisted and claimed that it was an important family matter.
“I have no idea what the family issue is. My father is happily playing with our cats at home,” she said in her tweet.
She then told her brother about what’s going on, which her brother then proceeded to disable their father’s Telegram account. Apparently, the scammer has been texting Dina all the way from Indonesia.
Ahh, so scary! Scammers can sometimes be very convincing, so please DO NOT fall into their trap. Always be careful and informed!
