Malaysia-Based CEO Bought The First Tweet Ever For RM11.9 Million!

The co-founder and CEO of Twitter, Jack Dorsey has put the first tweet in the world up for auction as an NFT (Non-fungible token) to celebrate the social media platform’s 15th anniversary!

For those who didn’t know, an NFT is a unique digital asset that is stored on a digital ledger, also known as the blockchain and can make money once someone buys it with cryptocurrency.

Malaysia has yet again placed itself under the global spotlight after a Malaysia-based CEO of a blockchain company, Bridge Oracle, Sina Estavi bought the tweet for a whopping RM11.9 million!

According to Bloomberg, Sina Estavi paid Twitter's co-founder $2.9 million to buy his first tweet.

On Tuesday, Sina tweeted: “This is not just a tweet! I think years later people will realise the value of this tweet, like the Mona Lisa painting.”

Dorsey also took to his Twitter to announce that he had officially sold the world’s first-ever tweet, and that he had converted the proceeds of the sale into Bitcoin and donated the money to GiveDirectly, a nonprofit that helps the world’s poorest.

Wah, this is very interesting!
