Our Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah has been in the limelight as one of Malaysia’s leading people in our fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. While some of us may only know him through his daily press briefing, Dr Noor Hisham just shared a snippet of his life with some major throwback pictures.
Commemorating the 50th anniversary of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Dr Noor Hisham posted some old photos of him back during his university days, that left netizens in awe.

In the Facebook post, he thanked his mentor, Professor Emeritus Dr Freda Andrea Meah, who started the country’s first breast endocrine unit in 1978 at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.
“As an alumnus of UKM, for both my undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, I have met many extraordinary individuals that have inspired and guided me throughout the years.”
“One of which is my beloved mentor, Professor Emeritus Dr Freda Andrea Meah.”
“Prof Meah was the pioneer in Breast and Endocrine Surgery when she started the country’s first breast endocrine unit in 1978 at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.”
“As the "mother" to many surgeons, she was conferred Professor Emeritus in the year 2011. I am one of her many students, and I have known her since I was a medical student and for more than 37 years.”
“Thank you to Prof Meah, who is herself an illustrious giant in the field of breast & endocrine surgery.”
