Datuk Lee Chong Wei will be donating 50 tablets to underprivileged students in Bukit Mertajam, Penang.

Bukit Mertajam MP Steven Sim took to Facebook to share that the former national badminton ace had called him up after finding out about the “Asal Cek Mau Pi Sekolah” program Sim is currently working on.

“Chong Wei called me after finding out about the “Asal Cek Mau Pi Sekolah” Program. We had a chance to talk about our families, health and the national sports sector,” said Sim.

One of Sim’s officers, Rosly Yusof, told Malaysiakini that once received, the tablets will be immediately handed over to selected families who cannot afford to buy the device for their children's online learning use.

The “Asal Cek Mau Pi Sekolah” program was launched on January 24th, to deliver COVID-19 assistance in the Bukit Mertajam parliamentary constituency, which focuses on the education sector.

It is divided into five efforts; namely free homework printing service, free online guidance classes, internet data top-up; Sim’s “adopt a child” program, and free laptops.

A little goes a long way! Let’s help those in need if and when we can!
