It was just over a year ago since the first case of COVID-19 was detected in the country, which was then still known as the Wuhan Virus.

Most of us are longing to go back to our kampung to see our families, shake hands with our best friends and lepak at the mamak until late at night or go to the supermarket without the worries of getting infected… but, the reality is, we still have a long way to go before we are completely free from the virus!
Health director-general, Tan Sri Dato' Seri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah recently took to his Facebook page to share the conditions of an ICU ward for the critical COVID-19 patients.
His caption reads: “Sharing our critically ill COVID-19 patients in Sungai Buloh Hospital ICU. We are almost running out of beds. Please stay healthy and stay safe.”
He also shared a series of photos and videos showing the real situations our medical frontliners face every single day while they’re on duty. He also revealed the truth about the current situation in our hospitals and medical facilities.

“According to statistics reported to the National Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC), the latest COVID-19 critical care bed or ICU utilisation rate in the Klang Valley on average had reached 90% on the morning of May 2nd,” he said.
“Six hospitals with critical care beds and ICUs dedicated to treating critically ill COVID-19 patients have exceeded 70%, namely Sungai Buloh Hospital, Kuala Lumpur Hospital, Ampang Hospital, Serdang Hospital, Selayang Hospital and Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Klang Hospital. Some of them are approaching the 100% mark,” he said.
DG Hisham then ended his post by asking the public to help the Ministry of Health (MOH) by following SOPs that have been set by the government. He said that a 100% compliance by everyone in the country is essential to help Malaysia recover from this pandemic.
