You are not required to wear gloves under the National Security Council’s COVID-19 SOPs.

Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob was responding to a viral video that appeared to show a cop issuing compounds to a glove-less shop worker as part of their SOP compliance checks.

“There is no SOP for gloves,” he insisted.

The incident in the video had caused a stir among netizens, who were not only annoyed but rather confused over this issue, causing some to question the details of the official SOPs.

As of late, the government has repeatedly been changing the SOPs under the various movement control orders despite reusing the same names for these.

The current Movement Control Order (MCO) in most parts of the country seems to be a more relaxed version of the first one imposed in March 2020 despite sharing the same name, which has given many Malaysians the impression that it's the same set of rules.

If you’re unsure about the rules during the MCO, head over to the National Security Council’s website or call their hotline to check on the SOPs.
