Police have confirmed the arrest of a 33-year-old man who verbally abused several individuals at a nasi lemak stall after he was told to wear a face mask.
According to FMT, the incident took place at Jalan Desa Bakti in Taman Desa, Kuala Lumpur on Sunday (July 18th).

Brickfields district police chief Anuar Omar confirmed the arrest saying that the man was being remanded at the Brickfields district police station.
In a video that went viral, the man, in a black tank top and shorts could be seen taunting the nasi lemak seller and another customer to call the police after he was asked to put on a face mask.
A girl, who helps her mother run the stall explained that the customer who helped them was their regular customer.
At around 10:30 am, the man in black had gone to the stall to buy nasi lemak, and that is when her mother noticed that he was not wearing a face mask.
“My mother was packing the nasi lemak when she asked him about his face mask. That’s when he shouted back, ‘Who are you? You sell nasi lemak, just do your job’. My mother was really taken aback,” she told FMT.

In a statement, Brickfields deputy police chief Basri Sagoni said the case was being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation and Rule 17(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Regulations 2021 for failing to comply with the COVID-19 SOPs.
