52 wholesale vendors got together to give out 10 tonnes of free vegetables to Kuantan residents living in low-cost residential areas.

According to Sinar Harian, the vegetables were packed into 5,000 different 2kg bags with a variety of vegetables on Thursday morning (26 March), and they were then distributed to the residents of low-cost residential areas in Kuantan.

One of the wholesale vendors, Mr. Heng, said that they got the vegetables from local farmers and Cameron Highland farmers, “These vegetables can be kept for 1 week and there are potatoes, tomatoes, sawi, kangkung, cabbage, carrots, and kailan,” he said.

He added that by bringing the vegetables to the people, it will minimise the movement of people.

Meanwhile, the residents in Kuantan were very thankful. “If I go to the market, this much food would cost me around RM15 to RM20, so by getting this bag of vegetables for free, it has definitely helped to lighten the burden of the people affected by this COVID-19 outbreak,” said Alias Mohd Isa.

It is very heartwarming to see everyone helping each other during this difficult time, regardless of race, religion or skin colour.

We hope that these wholesale vendors inspire us to always think of the people who are most affected by this situation.
