An Indonesian woman was found guilty of animal cruelty and was given a six month prison sentence by the sessions court.

According to FMT, 60-year-old Hotimah, who sells goreng pisang, pleaded guilty to the charge. She was accused of beating a cat to death with a broom at a store in Serdang Jaya, Seri Kembangan at 7:46 am on August 20th.
The charge is subject to punishment of up to a RM100,000 fine, up to three years in prison, or both, according to Section 29 (1) (a) of the Animal Welfare Act 2015 (Act 772).
Hotimah, who was unrepresented, cried after hearing the sentence which started Wednesday (23 November).
