On Monday (15 August), the United Kingdom’s drug regulator released a report that it has approved the updated version of the Moderna vaccine, which targets both the Omicron variant and the original form of the coronavirus.
According to CNA, the Medicine and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) said in a statement that it has approved the vaccine for adult booster doses after it was deemed to meet the UK regulator’s requirements for safety, quality and efficacy.

The MHRA’s chief executive June Raine said data from a clinical trial had shown it prompted a “strong immune response” against the original virus and would provide a “sharpened tool in our armory” as the virus kept evolving.
Meanwhile, the World Health Organization warned in July that the pandemic was “nowhere near over” due to the spread of Omicron sub variants and to the lifting of control measures.
Ahh, there’s still a long way to go before we’re free from COVID, guys!
Please don’t be complacent and remember to wear a face mask if you’re indoors, get yourself vaccinated and stay safe!
