Ministry Of Education: The Public Can Now Apply To Become Invigilators For SPM 2023

The Ministry of Education has made a significant announcement, opening up the opportunity for the public to apply for the role of an invigilator for the upcoming Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2023 examination. This initiative is in line with the ministry's commitment to safeguarding the welfare of teachers.

In a Facebook post by the Ministry of Education (MOE), it was revealed that this decision marks the first time that public examination supervisors will be appointed, beginning with the SPM examinations in 2023.

The MOE has categorized potential applicants into five distinct groups:

  • Category 1: Retired government employees (under the Education Service Officer scheme)

  • Category 2: Students from public higher education institutions, private higher education institutions, teacher training institutes, and foundation or matriculation graduates

  • Category 3: Teachers from state government religious secondary schools, private schools, and Mara Junior Science Institutions

  • Category 4: Government contract workers or contractual employees

  • Category 5: Non-government employees, retired government workers, and retired private sector workers

Volunteers will receive allowances based on the number of days they serve during the examination, with their primary responsibility being the supervision of students.

However, there are specific requirements for individuals interested in applying for this role. Applicants must:

  1. Be a Malaysian citizen

  2. Possess at least SPM qualifications or an equivalent qualification recognized by the government

  3. Be aged between 18 to 65 years old

  4. Be on a break and fully available for the entire SPM examination period

  5. Have a clean criminal record with no ongoing court actions

  6. Have access to their own means of transportation

  7. Successful applicants will be shortlisted and invited for an interview session at their nearest district education office. The application period is currently open and will officially close on October 31st.

Applicants who do not receive a response within a month after the application deadline should consider their application as unsuccessful.
