The police are looking into claims made by a Form One student at a secondary school in Tasek Gelugor, near Kepala Batas, Penang, that she was punished for wearing velcro shoes.

During a school assembly on Tuesday (1 November), the student claimed that she was ordered to kneel while raising her hands.

According to BERNAMA, Seberang Perai Selatan District Police Chief ACP Mohd Radzi Ahmad stated that the 13-year-old filed a police report the same day at 10.43 PM, claiming to have been punished for wearing velcro shoes instead of the lace-up shoes.

He stated that the teenager informed her father about the incident prior to filing a police report.

Mohd Radzi added that based on initial witness testimony, they claimed they did not see the student kneeling during the assembly and that the teacher in question had filed a police report to refute the allegations.

The case is now still being investigated by the police.
