Police Arrested Parents Of Two Children Seen In Viral Video Playing On Balcony Ledge

The parents of two children who were seen playing on the ledge of a condominium balcony have been arrested by police.

A 10-second video of the incident has gone viral online. 

Neighbors at the Taman Setapak condominium can be heard urgently telling the children to sit down and stay where they were.

"Step back ah, don't move and sit down!"

According to Ashari Abu Samah, a Wangsa Maju district police official, preliminary investigations by the Kuala Lumpur police's sexual, women, and child investigation division revealed that the children's parents were at home at the time and were unaware of the incident.

He also noted that the incident is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001, which addresses children who are neglected, abandoned, or exposed in a way that is likely to cause them physical or emotional harm.

If proven guilty, the parents might face an RM20,000 fine or a ten-year prison sentence, or both, as reported by Free Malaysia Today.

Ashari also warned parents against leaving their children unattended.
