We often overlook the harmful effects of ultraviolet (UV) rays on our bodies, but one man's mistake with a UV disinfecting lamp may be the wake-up call we all needed…
A professional car enthusiast in Taiwan, Andy shared a series of photos on his Facebook page on June 13th, revealing how his legs and eyes were badly burned after he left a UV lamp meant to sanitize his bedroom for three hours, with him sitting in the same space.
Andy said the skin on his legs had been severely burned and that he couldn’t open both of his eyes after being exposed to the lamp for so long, which is when he decided to rush to a clinic where doctors confirmed that he’d suffered burns to his corneas and legs.
Oh no, we hope he’s okay!
Fortunately, his burns weren’t extreme though he still had to wrap his legs and was told to rest for a few days until his condition improved.
He said that he had no idea that the UV lamp could be that strong and that his ignorance had ultimately caused him to suffer.

If you’re using a UV lamp to disinfect your home, please be careful! UV lamps used for disinfection purposes may pose potential health and safety risks depending on the UV wavelength, dose, and duration of radiation exposure.
UV radiation can cause severe burns on the skin and eye injuries known as photokeratitis. So remember to avoid direct skin exposure to UV radiation and never look directly into a UV light source, even if it’s for a while!
Stay safe, guys!
