Inspector-General of Police Urges Caution for M’sians Travelling to Southern Thailand Following Recent Attacks

The Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Razarudin Husain, has issued a warning to Malaysians planning to travel to the Thai border to exercise caution following a series of attacks and bombings in the southern region on 9 and 10 October.

According to a report from a Malaysian local news channel, he emphasised the importance of staying updated on current events in Thailand, particularly in the southern border areas.

"I believe many Malaysians will travel to southern Thailand during the upcoming Deepavali holiday," he stated. "In addition to advising caution, I also recommend that Malaysian tourists avoid areas targeted by those involved in the attacks, if possible."

In total, seven attacks and bombings believed to have been carried out by rebel groups occurred in southern Thailand within 24 hours, starting on 9 October. These incidents resulted in the deaths of one police officer and one civilian.

The attacks reportedly targeted security forces in the provinces of Narathiwat, Yala, and Pattani.
