Victorious Malaysian Esports Team Secures RM1.2 Million at World's Biggest Gaming Championship!

Dota 2 stands as the reigning champion of the multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) world, boasting an immense player base and inspiring a slew of similar titles since its inception.

This game has even given birth to the most illustrious esports event on the planet, known as The International (TI), which is renowned for its staggering prize pool that puts major golf tournaments to shame.

Recently, the 12th edition of The International (TI) came to a thrilling conclusion. In this epic showdown, Team Spirit, a Russian squad, emerged as the ultimate victors, securing an impressive $1,430,944 (RM6,830,611), which represented 45% of the total prize pool. 

The second spot was claimed by the European contenders, Gaimin Gladiators, who brought home $381,529 (RM1,821,228). The podium was rounded out by the formidable Chinese powerhouse, LGD Gaming, taking third place with a prize of $254,423 (RM1,214,488).

Among the champions of LGD Gaming is the talented 23-year-old Malaysian player, Cheng "NothingToSay" Jin Xiang. NothingToSay, recognized as one of Malaysia's premier esports players, previously clinched second place in TI10 and landed fifth in the previous TI11 with LGD Gaming.

This year, his team collectively secured a substantial RM1.2 million in prizes. While the precise share allotted to NothingToSay remains undisclosed, it is widely anticipated to be a handsome sum.

Leading up to TI12, NothingToSay had already amassed a noteworthy $1.8 million (RM8.59 million) from his gaming career, according to Liquipedia. 

Another notable Malaysian talent at TI12 was Chan "Oli" Chon Kien from Hong Kong-based squad Talon Esports, who finished their run in the 9th-12th place and pocketed $63,553 (RM303,370) in prize money.

Additionally, Malaysian organization Team SMG secured the 17th-20th spot in TI12, earning themselves $31,829 (RM151,935).
