Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) has introduced a new train service, the MySawasdee Penang Edition, designed to offer a seamless travel experience between Butterworth, Malaysia, and Hat Yai, Thailand.

Running from 29 December 2024 to 5 January 2025, the MySawasdee Penang Edition will operate daily, providing an affordable and efficient way to travel between the two destinations. The service will stop at several key stations along the route, including Bukit Mertajam, Sungai Petani, Alor Setar, Arau, and Padang Besar. Passengers will need to disembark at Padang Besar for immigration clearance before continuing their journey to Hat Yai.
With a one-way fare priced at just RM45, the journey will take approximately five hours and 25 minutes. The 1128 service will depart from Butterworth at 7:40 am, reaching Hat Yai around 12:05 pm (Thailand time). The return journey, 1129, will depart from Hat Yai at 3:00 pm (Thailand time) and is expected to arrive in Butterworth at 9:46 pm.
