Terengganu And Kelantan Continue To Be The Two States Most Severely Affected By The Floods

Heavy rain has been affecting most of Peninsular Malaysia mainly Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Perak and Johor. 

Terengganu and Kelantan continue to be the two states most severely affected by the floods, with a total of 71,208 people evacuated from five states as of last night as opposed to 66,718 on Tuesday (20 December).

A total of 139 relief centers are operating in the districts of Kota Baru, Pasir Mas, Bachok, Tanah Merah, Pasir Puteh, Kuala Krai, Machang, and Jeli in Kelantan, according to the State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) secretariat. 

This is an increase from the 26,630 victims who were reported in the evening, as reported by the Malay Mail.

As of this evening, there were 39,311 flood victims in Terengganu, up slightly from the 39,108 people from 10,735 families.

There are currently 304 relief centers open across the state's eight districts, with Besut recording its most victims with 9,225, followed by Kemaman (8,573), Hulu Terengganu (6,375), Setiu (4,988), Dungun (4,005), Kuala Terengganu (2,545), Kuala Nerus (1,839), and Marang (1,761 victims).

In Pahang, the total dropped slightly from 873 people from 214 families in the evening to 484 people from 113 families remaining in five relief centers.

Meanwhile, 54 victims from 17 families are still being housed in two relief centers in Perak, according to a JBPN Secretariat spokesperson.
