Parents today are getting increasingly creative with their children's names, sometimes choosing spellings that are hard to pronounce.

To help guide this trend, the National Registration Department (JPN) has issued recommendations for parents to follow, ensuring names remain appropriate and practical.
JPN shared a series of images on Facebook detailing these guidelines. Firstly, a name should not be undesirable or have a negative meaning in Malay.
Additionally, titles such as Dato’, Tan Sri, Puan Sri, and Haji are not allowed to be included in a person's name.
The guidelines also discourage names that are too complicated or excessively 'fancy.' Examples provided include Chuynx, Ytjt, and Usyux. Can anyone even pronounce these?
Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, a name can have a maximum of 80 characters. So parents, it's best to avoid giving your child an excessively long name with multiple titles or references, no matter how creative or meaningful they might seem.
