If you’ve been putting off renewing your driving licence, here’s some good news. For one month, starting 27 September until 26 October, all Road Transport Department (JPJ) offices and branches will open daily from 8.30am to 4.30pm, including weekends.
The move is meant to give Malaysians more flexibility, especially those who can’t make it to the counters on weekdays.

Why Does This Matter?
According to JPJ, there are about 2.3 million Competent Driving Licence (CDL) holders who are currently inactive because their licences have either expired or have not been renewed for more than three years.
-
If your licence has expired for less than three years, you can renew it easily through the MyJPJ app, mySikap portal, kiosks, or at any JPJ counter.
-
If it has been more than three years, you’ll need to retake the Driver’s Education Curriculum Parts 2 and 3 tests at a driving institute before you can drive again.
A Reminder for Drivers!
Driving with an inactive licence is an offence under the Road Transport Act 1987 and poses risks not just to you but also to other road users. JPJ is urging Malaysians to take this opportunity to renew their licences and keep the roads safer for everyone.
So, if you’re overdue for a renewal, make use of the weekend opening hours and get it sorted before the deadline.
