Movie and Hotpot? Malaysians React to KL’s First Hotpot Cinema Coming Soon

Get ready, Kuala Lumpur! The first hotpot cinema in Malaysia is on its way to Dadi Cinema at Pavilion Bukit Bintang.

Although an exact opening date hasn’t been announced, this innovative dining experience is already making waves, following a trend that’s been popular in China.

Imagine enjoying a steaming hotpot while watching your favourite movie—this unique blend of dining and cinema promises to add a new flavour to your movie nights. Picture yourself savouring a bubbling pot of soup filled with fresh meats, vegetables, and noodles, all while immersed in a cinematic experience.

Recently, Hong Kong actor Bosco Wong visited Dadi Cinema in KL to promote his latest film, The Unwavering Brotherhood. He had a sneak peek at this hotpot cinema experience, where patrons enjoyed a personal pot of hot soup and a selection of ingredients, courtesy of the popular hotpot chain Shu Da Xia.

However, the idea of a hotpot cinema hasn’t won everyone over. Some social media users have expressed concerns about the smell and the practicality of having a full meal in a theatre.

They argue that cinemas are meant for watching movies, not dining experiences.
