Following a swift investigation, it was confirmed that seven students had actively participated in the assault, while five others were deemed accomplices. In a strong response, all seven main perpetrators have been expelled from the boarding school.
In the wake of the incident, Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) chairperson Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki announced that new disciplinary measures are being considered. Among the proposals is the appointment of full-time wardens selected from retired police and military personnel, to reinforce discipline within MRSM boarding schools.
Speaking after a recent meeting with MARA director-general Datuk Zulfikri Osman, Dr Asyraf suggested that candidates would be engaged on a contract basis, following thorough interviews and holistic evaluations to ensure their suitability.
“These wardens must have the capability to foster discipline and to oversee the students' personal and character development closely,” he shared in a Facebook comment, as reported by the New Straits Times.
The move to enlist former enforcement officers aims to provide MRSM campuses with a stronger leadership presence, creating a safer and more structured environment for all students.

It is encouraging to see the government taking decisive action on this issue. Still, the responsibility does not rest on schools alone. As families, educators, and members of society, we must remain vigilant and proactive in educating our children about the importance of empathy, respect, and standing firmly against bullying.
