In Kuala Lumpur, heavy rainfall triggered a landslide near Taman United, Seputeh, forcing the evacuation of 104 housing units across two apartment blocks. The incident was reported to the fire station at 11:02 AM, and according to Seputeh Fire and Rescue Station Chief, Deputy Fire Superintendent II Armdan Mahat, the landslide measured approximately 60 metres in length.

One vehicle was completely buried under the debris. The evacuation was coordinated with representatives from the Seputeh Parliamentary office and engineers from Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL). Armdan confirmed that ongoing ground movement and heavy rain prompted the safety measure, adding that fortunately, no injuries or deaths were reported. Firefighters remain on site to monitor any further shifts in the terrain.

Meanwhile, the continuous downpour also caused flooding in Shah Alam, leading to heavy traffic during the morning rush hour. Roads in areas such as Sri Muda, Section 17, Section 19, and the NKVE Highway towards Bukit Jelutong were affected, slowing commuters on their way to work. Residents can stay updated on the latest conditions via the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) Facebook page.

As we approach the monsoon season, it’s important for everyone to stay alert. Always follow announcements from MET Malaysia, avoid driving through flooded roads, keep essential items and documents in waterproof bags, and move to higher ground if water levels rise.

Stay safe if you’re travelling during this period.
