In an effort to address the problem of dirty public bathrooms, Local Government Development Minister Nga Kor Ming today announced that his ministry will award the best public bathroom with the title of "Toilet of the Year."

He said on the Astro Awani programme, Agenda Awani that people should not take public toilets lightly because they are what give visitors their first image of Malaysia and are found in tourist areas and at entry points into the country.

“I don't care if people refer to me as the toilet minister; what matters is that I find a solution to a problem that concerns the majority of the public,” he said.

The honor, according to Nga, aims to make the country's public bathrooms a "BMW-grade" which represents ‘Bersih,’ ‘Menawan,’, and ‘Wangi’ which means clean, beautiful and pleasant smell in Malay.

According to Malay Mail, the minister is said to have visited Dataran Merdeka's public bathrooms among other places as part of his informal visits to evaluate the bathroom’s conditions firsthand.

Wah, this is something new! What do you guys think of this?
