Car Stopping On Emergency Lane To Take In KL View Causes First Accident on SUKE

Stopping on the emergency lane when you’re not experiencing an emergency is not only illegal, it’s also dangerous!

Just two days after the Sungai Besi-Ulu Kelang Elevated Expressway (SUKE) opened to the public, we have our first accident on the highway on Sunday (Sept 18th).

The location of the incident was one kilometre after the Bukit Teratai toll plaza heading towards Kuala Lumpur, which seems to have the clearest view of the KL skyline from the elevated expressway.

The cause of the incident? A car was parked at the emergency lane at around 2.45pm to take in the panoramic view of Kuala Lumpur, when a motorcycle crashed into its rear. Fortunately, the rider only suffered minor injuries.

As beautiful as the scenery is up there, it is still an offence to stop at the emergency lane. Enjoy the view by all means, but please do not stop your vehicle and continue to pay attention on the road.

With more and more vehicles passing through this highway due to the free tolls this first month, motorists need to be extra careful to prevent incidents like this from happening again.

Drive safe!
