The race for this season’s FA Cup is down to the final four sides.
Both Manchester clubs will feature in the semi-final, with surprise EPL package Brighton and Championship side Sheffield United completing the line-up.
Here, we take a look at how the quarterfinal action unfolded.
Manchester City 6-0 Burnley
Another Erling Haaland hattrick helped the Citizens to a comfortable and comprehensive victory over Burnley.
The Norwegian has been unstoppable this season, taking his tally for the current campaign to 42 across all competitions.
City are now through to their sixth semi-final appearance in seven seasons under Pep Guardiola, and are one of the favourites to lift the trophy.
At the time of writing, they are also still on course to complete the EPL, FA Cup and Champions League treble.
Manchester United 3-1 Fulham
Arguably the most controversial tie of the round.
Fulham took the lead at Old Trafford courtesy of Aleksander Mitrovic in the 50th minute.
But then a bizarre spell 15 minutes from time saw the visitors concede a penalty and lose two players as well as their manager.
Willian was deemed to have handled the ball on the line, earning a red-card for the offence after a VAR review.
A furious Fulham boss Marco Silva was then given his marching orders for protesting, before Mitrovic was sent off for pushing the referee’s arm.
This allowed United back into the game, with Bruno Fernandes netting a brace on either side of a Marcel Sabitzer strike.
The Red Devils – who won this season’s League Cup – are now just two games away from adding another trophy in Erik Ten Hag’s very first season in charge.
Sheffield United 3-2 Blackburn Rovers
This meeting of Championship sides certainly delivered in terms of goals and entertainment.
Tommy Doyle struck the stoppage-time winner to break the deadlock and send the Blades to their first semi-final since 2014.
As for Blackburn, they miss out on what would have been their first semi-final in 16 years.
Brighton 5-0 Grimsby
Grimsby’s dream cup run came to a shuddering halt at the hands of Premier League high-flyers Brighton.
The Seagulls play three divisions above their opponents, and the gulf in class was obvious from the opening whistle.
Roberto de Zerbi’s side, who are also in contention from a place in next season’s Champions League, will be playing in their first FA Cup semi-final since 2019.
Semi-final draw
The draw for the semis will see Man United take on Brighton in an all-EPL encounter, while City will face Sheffield United.
This means there is a chance we could see a Manchester derby in the final.
Both semis ties will be played at Wembley Stadium on the weekend of April 22nd.
The final is scheduled for June 3rd, also at Wembley.
