On 8th September, Queen Elizabeth passed away at Balmoral Castle in Scotland, and her casket was brought back to London on 16 September.
Since then, mourners have been able to pay their condolences as she has been lying in state at Westminster Hall. It was reported that mourners have started lining up since 12 September, and The Queue has actually become longer since then.
The estimated waiting time in The Queue was over a day long, and authorities have requested that mourners not attempt to join the queue as thousands and thousands still arrive, forming a secondary queue in order to join the official queue.
According to BBC, The Queue had been allocated a space over 16km along the banks of the Thames, so finding its exact start point is almost impossible.
Spotted in the crowd was English footballer, David Beckham who apparently joined The Queue at 2 am and had waited for over 12 hours along with other members of the public.
When asked by reporters how the experience of The Queue had been so far for him, he emphasized that he decided to join The Queue with others in order to celebrate the life of the Queen, sharing stories and food as they wait together.
“We all want to be here together, we all want to experience something where we celebrate the amazing life of our Queen, and I think something like this today is meant to be shared together.
“So the fact that we’re now here together, we’re eating pringles, we’re eating sherbet lemons, sandwiches, sharing coffee and doughnuts…”
David was later seen in Westminster Hall paying his respects. Looking extremely sombre as he waited his turn, before finally walking past the coffin, turning to it, bowing his head slightly and then heading out.
What a man!
