The 45-year-old woman allegedly fell into the sea when her husband stopped his motorcycle by the side of the road while their son had to stop passing vehicles to seek help to call the authorities.
The Perai Fire and Rescue Station received an emergency call at 4:40 pm about a woman who had jumped over the Penang bridge and quickly dispatched a team to the scene.
The spokesman said: “Upon arrival, we found that the woman had been rescued by her husband and was taken to one of the bridge’s pillars.
“The team of rescuers then climbed down using the rappelling method and managed to calm the woman down before taking the couple to the Batu Urban Jetty on a boat, accompanied by a police team,” he added.
