Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba said last week, level one and two COVID-19 patients are allowed to undergo treatment and quarantine at home, but under strict surveillance by health authorities.
In order to be allowed to self-quarantine at home for 10 days, you will have to meet certain requirements:
- You must be asymptomatic or display mild symptoms.
- You should not belong to any high-risk group.
- You should have someone to look after you.
- You must live in a place which allows you to be isolated from others in your home.
However, you don’t get to decide if you can be treated at home.
A health worker from the nearest COVID-19 Assessment Centre (CAC) will assess your condition and the conditions of your home to see if the you’re able to undergo home quarantine.
Also, you might be wondering why 10 days?
The Health Ministry (MOH) says the potential for spreading the virus after this period is very low.
But don’t get too excited if you’re allowed to self-isolate at home, there are still rules that you will have to comply with:
Remember to wear a face mask, maintain physical distancing and wash your hands regularly.
Meanwhile, if you think you've come into close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19, here's how you know how close you actually were with said person, and what you should do.
Stay home and stay safe, everyone!
