What's Up With All The Shock Results In The Premier League?!

The 2020/2021 Premier League season is proving to be a real cracker!

We're only over a month into the new campaign, but already the season has thrown up several shock results.

The first of these came last weekend, where former champions Man City fell to a surprise 5-2 home defeat to Leicester.

City don't normally leak goals like this, especially at home...but the match clearly exposed City's flaws and inadequacies this season, both in attack and defense.

The second shock result came last night courtesy of Tottenham, who pulled off a 6-1 thrashing of Man United.

It equals the record for United's worst home defeat, having also lost by the same scoreline to Man City back in 2011.

The loss was all the more humiliating as it happened at Old Trafford and came at the hands of their former boss Jose Mourinho, who's now in charge of Spurs.

But if you think that was a crazy scoreline, wait till you hear what happened at Villa Park.

Aston Villa - who barely survived relegation last season - put seven (yes, seven!) goals past defending Premiership champions Liverpool, winning 7-2.

It is the first time since the 1960's that The Reds have let in that many goals.

Even Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp had no answer to why they played so badly, simply admitting that his side 'lost the plot'.

Now, while these heavy defeats could come back to bite Liverpool, Man City and Man United later in the campaign...it's important to remember that it is still very early in the season, with plenty more to play for.

But just like how the global coronavirus pandemic has taught us to expect the unexpected...we're also seeing that even Premiership giants like The Reds and City are not immune to some shock results.
