What Next For Gareth Bale After Real Madrid Exit?

Wales captain Gareth Bale is searching for a new club once again.

The 32-year-old is available on a free transfer, having left Real Madrid after nine years with the La Liga side.

Since his Madrid exit Bale has been linked with a return to Tottenham, although it is widely believed that Spurs are no longer interested in a move for their former player.

There are also rumours of a move to a Major League Soccer team, although the player is not known to be keen on having to make frequent long-distance trips between the UK and North America.

But amid the uncertainty over Bale’s future, Cardiff City have emerged as a surprise suitor for Bale’s services.

At first glance, this may seem like an audacious and perhaps even foolish bid.

For one…the Championship side will not be able to afford the £600,000 per week wages that Bale was earning at Real Madrid.

But the Bluebirds are hoping the winger will consider taking a significant pay cut to make the deal happen.

This is because Bale’s immediate priority is to stay sharp and fit for Wales’s upcoming World Cup campaign. Cardiff believe they’ll be able to offer the player regular first-team football, something other clubs may not be able to.

They’re also counting on the sentimental attraction of a move to Cardiff, which is where Bale was born.

But Cardiff City are not just thinking short-term with their attempt to sign Bale. They have bigger plans for the Wales international.

The Championship club have made no secret of their desire to earn a return to the Premier League, and they reportedly want Bale to lead that challenge.

They’re hoping that the prospect of Bale becoming a national hero with his exploits for his home club will be enough to entice him to make the switch.

As it stands though, Cardiff have yet to make a formal approach for the player, who undoubtedly has already started talking to his advisors about his next step.
