A university graduate from Port Dickson recently lost RM138,990 after being cheated through a part-time job offer on Facebook.
According to Astro AWANI, Port Dickson police chief Supt. Aidi Sham Mohamed said that the 24-year-old woman saw a job offer that was advertised on Facebook and then contacted an individual who then asked her to download an app.

“She then was told that the company had ordered some items from online merchant sites and that she needed to deposit some amount of money into the account, and was later promised a 2.5% commission,” he said.
Aidi added that the woman used money from her late stepfather’s Employees Provident Fund (EPF) to make payments into several different bank accounts.
Investigations further found that she made 15 transactions since Thursday (July 22nd) into six different accounts, involving a total of RM138,990.
Alamak, that’s a lot of money!
The victim then lodged a police report on Tuesday (July 27th) when she realised that after the whole payment was made, she still failed to get the commission that she was promised by the company.
The case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code, where maximum punishment for an offence under this section is imprisonment for a term which may extend to seven years, with or without a monetary fine.
Aidi also advised the public to not disclose personal data to any individual and not to be easily influenced by high-paying job offers, especially from the internet.
Remember to always check the background of the company or employer before applying for a job, guys! Stay safe.
