Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) has advised its students who are coming back from Sabah and other COVID-19 red zone areas to postpone their return trip to campus.

This is because we recently had a surge of COVID-19 cases and placements for those requiring quarantine on campus are very limited.
A statement released by the University said: “New students who are not from Sabah or other red zone areas may register on 2, 3 and 4 by driving through at the USM campus while new students from Sabah and other red zones areas may register online via the university’s website or the USM app.”

Meanwhile, Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) in Bachok has postponed its face-to-face admission of new and old students from Sabah and other COVID-19 red zones areas.
Its Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International) Professor Dr. Mohd Rafi Yaakob said that the postponement involves individuals with a travel history from Sabah within a 14-day period before registration day.
“Admission of new and old students who are not from Sabah and other red zone areas will be as scheduled and they must comply with the Guideline for the Management and Implementation of Student Admission.”
The decision is made in line with the instruction issued by the Higher Education Ministry which had recommended that all Institutions of Higher Learning (IPT) postpone the registration of new and old students from red zone areas.
