Outdoor activities such as water rafting, skydiving and parachuting are a great way to blow off some steam, but they’re also the type of activities you need to follow safety procedures, or risk getting hurt, as this woman in Taiping, Perak found out.

40-year-old Suriati Supar was learning to parachute at the Tekah airfield today (September 1st), but she unfortunately had a landing mishap which landed her in hospital.

According to The Star, Suriati did not follow the landing procedure as instructed during the exercise.

“At about 152m, the victim had moved into a down wind and was instructed to prepare for landing,” said Taiping OCPD Asst Comm Osman Mamat.

“She only followed the instructions at 24m but without correctly manoeuvring the parachute and crashed," he added.

Suriati suffered internal bleeding in her brain, and also broke her left thigh. She is currently being treated in Taiping Hospital and has yet to regain consciousness.
