This Kelantan Hospital Needs Your Help! Their Blood Supply Is Running Very Low

Blood supply at the Raja Perempuan Zainab Hospital (HRPZ) II is currently at a critical level and can only last for three days. Oh no!

According to BERNAMA, hospital director Datuk Dr. Selasawati Ghazali said that supply is not stable due to the ongoing implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO), especially when the need for blood continues to rise.

“Our blood supply issue is very critical at the moment, besides encouraging our hospital staff to donate their bloods, we are also trying to contact our friends from NGOs to come forward and donate blood. We are now also extending our blood transfusion centre until 11 pm,” she said.

She added that the average usage of blood supplies in the Ministry of Health (MOH) hospitals in the state is around 100 to 120 bags per day while usage at the HRPZ II is 50 to 80 bags a day.

Meanwhile, blood collection throughout the MCO period from February until May was unsatisfactory due to the restrictions and absence of university students.

Dr. Selasawati urges everyone in Kelantan to come to the hospital to donate blood as the hospital is unable to organise major programmes, thus becoming a major constraint to obtaining blood supply.
