The Saloma Link Is Finally Open To The Public And It Looks Remarkable!

Walks around Kuala Lumpur have levelled up with the addition of a new pedestrian bridge that has just opened!

Named after the wife of Malaysia’s legendary actor, P. Ramlee, The Saloma Link will offer a connection between Kampung Baru, KL’s very own traditional Malay village and Jalan Ampang, the bustling area near KLCC.

The Saloma link was commissioned by the Kampung Bharu Development Corporation (PKB) and was officially opened to the public on Wednesday (5 Feb) at 2:30pm.

In an interview with Bernama, PKB chief executive officer Zulkurnain Hassan said the Saloma Link stretches for 370m, with a span that crosses the river and highway being 69m long.

The project was built at a cost of RM31mil and took 18 months to complete.

With the aim to connect the older parts of the city with the new more modern area, the link starts from Lorong Raja Muda Musa 3, about 100m from the underground Kampung Baru LRT station, and is connected with Lorong Saloma, besides Menara Public Bank on the Jalan Ampang side.

As for bridge design, the developers have chosen Sireh Junjung (the betel nut leaf arrangement culturally used in Malay weddings) for its architectural concept.

Located right in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, the Saloma Link is also aimed at making the city more walkable.

According to Zulkurnain, “On foot, it normally takes more than 30 minutes to get from KLCC to Kampung Baru, and across several busy roads.

“With the bridge, it will take pedestrians about seven minutes to get from Jalan Saloma to Jalan Raja Muda Musa 3,” said Zulkurnain.

We can’t wait to test out the new bridge soon. How about you?
