Selangor Still Recording The Highest Number Of COVID-19 Cases In The Country

The number of COVID-19 infections in Malaysia is rising, and we mustn’t be complacent!

In a statement on Sunday (3 January) the Health Director-General, Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said that Selangor still records the highest daily case of COVID-19 at 673 cases, which is 39.5% of the total 1,704 new cases over the last 24 hours.

This brought the total positive case in Malaysia to 119,077 cases while the number of active cases with COVID-19 infectivity was at 21,365 cases.

“Of the total new cases, there are five imported cases while the domestic transmission of COVID-19 stands at 1,699 cases,” he said, as reported by the Malay Mail.

DG Hisham further explained that out of the 673 new cases in Selangor, 509 cases were from clusters, and COVID-19 close contact screenings actively conducted in the field.

Meanwhile, Sabah is the second highest state with 316 cases (18.5%), and Johor at 179 cases (10.5%).

Only last week, Malaysia registered another record high of new daily COVID-19 infections with 2,525 cases on Thursday (31 December), with 1,205 new cases were reported in Selangor alone.
