Schools nationwide are set to welcome students back in stages starting next month.
The Education Ministry (MOE) said preschoolers, as well as Standards 1 and 2 students will be allowed to return on March 1st.
Meanwhile, those in Standards 3,4,5, and 6, will be back on March 8th.
Minister Datuk Dr Mohd Radzi Md Jidin explained that younger school kids are allowed back earlier as they had fewer overall schooling days last year.
As for secondary schools, students in Johor, Kelantan, Terengganu, and Kedah will return on April 4th, while secondary students from other states will be allowed to return on April 5th.
Dr Mohd Radzi said these students have a later return date due to the upcoming Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination.
International schools will be allowed to open March 8th.
Meanwhile, Malaysia reported 2,936 new COVID-19 cases today (February 19th).
Selangor had the highest number of infections with 978 cases, followed by 730 in Johor, and Kuala Lumpur with 227.
The death toll has risen to 1,043 after 13 more patients succumbed to the virus.
Stay safe, everyone!
