Ronaldo Shatters More Records As He Makes His Mark At The Euros

By now every football fan knows that Cristiano Ronaldo breaks records like it’s his hobby.

Over the years, so many appearance and goalscoring records at club and international level have been shattered by the football superstar.

So it is no surprise that he has already set a few milestones at the ongoing Euro 2020.

As he took to the field for Portugal’s group opener against Hungary, he became the first player ever to appear in five editions of the tournament (2004, 2008, 2012, 2016 & 2020).

It was also his 39th appearance for Portugal at a major tournament (World Cup and Euros), which is an all-time record for a European player, overtaking Bastian Schweinsteiger's 38 games with Germany.

In the match against Hungary (which Portugal won 3-0)…Ronaldo ended up scoring twice. They were his 10th and 11th European Championship goals overall…helping him overtake Michel Platini as the tournament’s record goalscorer.

At 36 years and 130 days old…Ronaldo is also now the oldest player to score two or more goals in a European Championship match. (Andriy Shevchenko was the previous record holder at 35 years and 256 days)

As if all that was not enough…the Portuguese superstar is also fast approaching arguably the most prestigious record of all – that of the greatest goal scorer in international football.

Currently, Ali Daei holds that record, with 109 goals for Iran. Ronaldo is only a hair’s breadth away with 106 goals.

At the rate he’s going, absolutely no one would bet against Ronaldo hitting, and even exceeding that mark…and it could very well happen at the ongoing Euro's.
