Police Are Looking For Two Women Who Allegedly Vandalised The ‘Malaysia’s Heroes’ Mural

This is why we can’t have nice things…

Yesterday (July 20th)  the viral “Malaysia’s Heroes” mural at Section U12 Shah Alam was painted over with white paint by the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) after it was smeared with red paint.

Police are now in the midst of identifying two individuals, believed to be women, for allegedly vandalising the mural.

According to Malay Mail, Shah Alam district police chief ACP Baharudin Mat Taib said the two individuals were detected from CCTV footage from a nearby shop.

“We are locating these individuals. Give us time to investigate this incident and we hope no one will issue unnecessary statements,” he said.

The investigation will be carried out under Section 504/427 of the Penal Code which carries a jail term of up to five years, or a fine or both if convicted.

Offensive words were written in red paint on the portraits of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Health director-general Datuk Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah and PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang.

In a statement by the Selangor Royal Office on Facebook stated: “The Sultan of Selangor, DYMM Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj is very angry and saddened by the incident of vandalism against the murals of national leaders that took place in Taman Cahaya Alam, Section U12, Shah Alam.”

The page added, “He was also upset that this incident took place in Selangor. He greatly appreciates the artwork of such local artists and stated that the Sultan of Selangor hopes that the perpetrators could be arrested immediately and brought to justice.”

Suhaimi Ali, one of the artists of the mural took to his Facebook page to thank everyone who had supported his talent, “I am here to thank everyone who has supported my talent, and giving me the chance to share my artwork with all of you.”
