The ever-popular Andaman luxury resort in Langkawi caught fire yesterday evening (January 12th), with the blaze damaging several parts of the main building, including the kitchen.
It’s understood that firefighters are still trying to control the blaze at the time of writing, and trying to prevent it from spreading to neighbouring luxury resort, The Datai, as well as the surrounding forest reserve.
Thankfully, no one was reported dead or injured.
A video of the inferno has gone viral on social media, while the hotel has yet to provide an update on the extent of the damage.
According to The Vibes, a Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said the fire is believed to have originated from the kitchen, adding that staff members and guests have been evacuated when the fire alarm went off.

Built in the 1990s, the Andaman resort is one of the most popular luxury hotels in Langkawi - located on the shores of the Andaman Sea coral reef and surrounded by rainforest, this high-end beach resort is 20 km from both the Langkawi Cable Car and the Langkawi Sky Bridge.
